Right after we started developing EverWrite, we needed to create a destination, a content website that we could use to improve our technology and test our hypotheses. So, how could we start that? Well, we needed to try what we called a worst-case scenario. A website with a new domain, zero links, zero pages and so on. We started creating a brand, and producing content that users seemed to be demanding.
We picked the how-to niche, and since we’re from Brazil, we started producing content in Portuguese in this category (“como” is ”how” and “fas” is similar to “do”). We used EverWrite from day one on the website and we had amazing results even in the 1st month. The growth in organic search is very impressive, as you can see in the graph below.
In addition, right now you can see a lot of content from EverWrite suggestions on page one at Google and Bing, such as “Como consertar internet lenta” (Portuguese for “how to fix a slow internet connection”)” or “Como fazer chocolate quente” (“how to make hot chocolate)”. We’ve been getting amazing results and so can you. What are you waiting for? Get in touch with us!
Case Summary:
Comofas is niche blog, created to test EverWrite technology. The website contains articles about how to do things, tutorials and recipes, all generated by EverWrite suggestions, and written in house. (But the how-to’s are all legitimate, we promise.)
Overview:
We wanted to generate traffic for a website with zero visits and zero links. SEO Copywriting was the natural tool for this task and EverWrite was the tool we used to generate article topics and tags.
Goals:
- Create articles that matched users needs;
- Focus on ROI, write about what pays well on AdSense;
- Split test human generated articles versus EverWrite optimized articles;
Strategy:
To accomplish these goals, we started producing content in house about topics that had significant demand, and low organic competition, so we could focus on the “low hanging fruit”. We hired an intern to write simple (but very well written) tutorials about many topics. He could write about whatever topics that he wanted too, in addition to EverWrite suggested topics.
During this stage, we didn’t invest heavily in social, because we were focusing on search engine optimization. The only thing we did from a social perspective was add social buttons such as Google +1, Facebook like, and a Retweet button on all the posts.
We also used EverWrite API to tag posts with the search terms that matched that content and had low organic competition and a good AdWords bid.
Accomplishments:
We were very happy with our initial results. In first 30 days, we’d already received around 40k visits, and right now, after 90 days, we closed our third month with 100k uniques. Organic traffic accounts for 62% of these numbers. During this time, we also did some split testing on human suggestions based articles versus EverWrite’s data based articles. On average, we had 3.04 times more organic traffic in articles generated using EverWrite technology versus traditional articles.
Looking towards the future, over the next months, we’ll be working on improving content ROI and we’ll start optimizing the archive of articles that were human generated (without data analysis), and producing articles testing optimizations for traffic vs advertising revenue.
